right beehind you ...
how could i resist these swirls
'midst this bumble's twirls and curls
nature up so close unfurls
treasures glistening like pearls ...

he flies through the air ...
flies through the air, with the greatest of ease,
this wee hoverfly, without a trapeze,
"plantain is yum," say this small group of flies,
sucking down nectar, right before our eyes ...
judith meskill
just the two of us ...
i thought i saw two hoverflies below,
clinging to the tiniest blade of grass,
i dropped down in a squat, ever so slow,
and caught them in this private way, alas ...

in homage to ...
a frame for mim, although i don't do them,
and shallow depth of field, for dear julie,
for sweet lucy, who made me post, ahem,
i'm here tonight, to see what i can see ...

miles of smiles to all of my flickr friends
now for a look at what's been 'neath your lens ...
forget me not ...
forget me not, she whispers with these blooms,
i think of you quite often, flickr friends,
my hopes are high to visit flickr rooms,
before this spring in steamy summer ends ...
judith meskill
flickr is where i've been blogging this last year. photos and poetry for a forthcoming book. /smile
magnolia redux ... nascent magnolia, blooming in the spring,
fabulous eye candy, does it now bring,
fanciful fez, fit for a fairy king,
stamens and pistils, do this pink song sing ...

i've known it as inevitable for months now, but today - it's official, my awesome cohort in crime, brian alvey, is leaving aol ... too ... brian is one of my all time favorite people, i thoroughly enjoyed working with him at weblogs. --> (that's brian & his son jack, photo by the fabulous, niki alvey)
giving props to brian's leaving, jason draws a brief timeline of our exodus from aol, while wired's adario strange, who's been keeping tabs on us as we've been leaving, proclaims the original weblogs leadership team gone now, but ... as pointed out on his blog today, pete rojas, is still at aol/weblogs, hanging in with the engadget team and other awesome 'win'ites - like barb, brad, ryan, sarah, karen, victor, john, and chris - an excellent team - still keeping the 'win' engine fully stoked.
brian alvey is pure genius, and i'm sure our work paths will be aligning again ... /miles of smiles
these beaks as lips ...
these beaks as lips do shakespeare now invoke,
here imaged in these three most tender squares,
a pilgrim's kiss, just for these jays bespoke,
their bonding ritual caught unawares ...

feathery friday fun ...
there's simply too much posting i've not done,
this cardinal reminds me i'm behind,
i'm packing up my bags for left coast fun,
and all my flickr friends are on my mind ...
judith meskill
how close is too close?!? i was amazed when this pretty little cardinal alighted just a few feet away from me - just far enough for my 400mm lens to engage - an inch or two closer and i would have had to step back my lens as i swung around to catch this shot. flickr has certainly gotten me hooked on photography again. there is such a vibrant community of macro/nature photographers afoot there.
my new headshot ...
what does a nature photographer use,
to show all the world what she looks like now,
a scene in the grass, 'gainst a tree does fuse,
the magic that ms.lume's lens does endow ...
judith meskill
ps: thank you sooooooo much lucy! xoxoxox
happy birthday ms.lume ...
checkered lily, for my sister lucy,
born in may, a month of flowers blooming,
loving my sweet sister, and so you see,
her love for lilies, on here i'm zooming!
judith meskill
where are you ...
so where are you, this woodpecker did shout,
your flickr friends would like to see you post,
but changing jobs has really thrown me out,
of taking shots, a thing that i love most!! ...

the former gm / coo of weblogs, inc., an aol company, and former vp / social media officer of babycenter, and now the coo of crowdfusion.com. totally psyched with this new opportunity to work with brian alvey again ... currently in the process of consolidating my various and sundry blogs: knowledge notes; the small remnants that are left of: endless breathless patter; tagalicious; the judith meskill weblog; and the social software weblog. phew ... when i am all done with migrating all of these bits and bytes they will then live happily ever after at: meskill.net ... /smile
this little heart of mine ...
bleeding heart in the dark,
like an electric arc,
shadows and light of love,
wings of a sweet mourning dove ...
