punch drunk bee ...
now tio called a t.k.o. so fast,
while my bees were just warming to the task,
this little drunken bee would like to say,
"tio, my bro, let's meet another day!"
judith meskill
ps: this bee was a wee bit on the slow side from sipping a bit too much nectar but ... i did see him get up and go home so ... no bees were hurt in the telling of this tale ... and here i was just starting to shoot bees 'tio style' ...
a route of evanescence ...
"a route of evanescence
with a revolving wheel --
a resonance of emerald --
a rush of cochineal --
and every blossom on the bush
adjusts its tumbled head --
the mail from tunis, probably,
an easy morning's ride --"
Emily Dickinson
a butterfly break ...
i haven't posted flowers in some time,
and calas are a favorite of mine,
i hope your sunday's sunny and quite mild,
and that you get to treat your inner child ...

miles of smiles in your general direction - to all of my fine flickr friends ... /smiles
a 'real' butterfly kiss ... now tio says this kiss is done with lashes,
my butterflies say "uh, uh" it's this way,
b'flies say it's wings to wings, these dashes,
at least that's what they told me, just today ...
judith meskill
and so, the smackdown continues - i was searching for a 'butterfly kiss' to throw down to tio's 'butterfly kiss' and two brand new butterflies obliged me ... i know that this was probably a more aggressive 'kiss' but, the outcome was really fine, and no butterflies were hurt in the production of this 'kiss' ...
ps: i know that the about definition for a 'butterfly kiss' is lashes to lashes but ... who knows better than a couple of butterflies?!? i'm just sayin' ... /smile
red spotted purple ...
red spotted purple, you bet that's my name,
besting our tio, is part of my game,
all in good fun, this smackdown is for real,
butterfly season, has such fun appeal ...

hummingbird redux ...
today i spied a squirrel in the birdbath,
whilst snapping shots, a 'blur' came into view,
and shifting focus to the small blur's path,
this hummingbird did thrill me through and through ...
judith meskill
yet another 'accidental' guest before my lens! this time i had that split nanosecond to focus on its face ... my first hummingbird was 'in the shadows' and now this one in full light - sheer delight ... /smile
she's so superfly too ...
some call her orange, some call her clouded,
she's an albino, with a sweet pink fringe,
and though her cuteness might have her shrouded,
she's so fierce, she makes superfly cringe ...
judith meskill
she's a gift to us all ...
for bella, who is oh so sweet and new,
and dearest trish, on her recent birthday,
and wondrous june, forever so true blue,
i'm celebrating THEM, in this 'wee' way ...

fritillary ... fluttery fritillary, fancy free,
sipping sweet nectar, in butterfly tree,
rolling up proboscis, as she moves on,
onto the next bloom, she will sup upon ...

maxine monarch ...
sweet maxine monarch, born one july day,
slept in the maple, dreamt the night away,
back down in the morning, pretty as pie,
then she spread her wings, and began to fly ...
judith meskill
tiger swallowtail ...
now some gray days afford the best bokeh,
this swallowtail did pose for me, just so,
and gathered nectar slowly, in this way,
together we gave this day our best go ...

painted lady ...
painted lady, with lemon daisy glow,
lingered for a moment before my lens,
a perfect garden guest, just so you know,
she left this daisy tidy, for her friends ...
judith meskill
least skipper ...
mere seconds, was he sitting on this bush,
extending his proboscis in a curl,
then landing on my nose in a soft whoosh,
and asking if i'd like to be his girl ...
judith meskill
this teensy weensy guy landed on my nose, right between my eyes, nanoseconds after i took this shot! i had a startle reflex - i jumped and then he jumped right onto my finger, that was poised on the shutter of my camera - love at first fright ... /smile
a million thanks to all of my dear friends who are extending sweet birthday wishes my way - this friday the 13th ... hugs & kisses to all of you! xoxoxox
