i'm a rooster, you can see,
crowing to my heart's content,
here i'm standing, just to vent,
happy that i'm no turkey,
so tomorrow here i'll be ...

brian alvey leaves aol ...

i've known it as inevitable for months now, but today - it's official, my awesome cohort in crime, brian alvey, is leaving aol ... too ... brian is one of my all time favorite people, i thoroughly enjoyed working with him at weblogs. --> (that's brian & his son jack, photo by the fabulous, niki alvey)

giving props to brian's leaving, jason draws a brief timeline of our exodus from aol, while wired's adario strange, who's been keeping tabs on us as we've been leaving, proclaims the original weblogs leadership team gone now, but ... as pointed out on his blog today, pete rojas, is still at aol/weblogs, hanging in with the engadget team and other awesome 'win'ites - like barb, brad, ryan, sarah, karen, victor, john, and chris - an excellent team - still keeping the 'win' engine fully stoked.

brian alvey is pure genius, and i'm sure our work paths will be aligning again ... /miles of smiles

my new headshot ...
the former gm / coo of weblogs, inc., an aol company, and former vp / social media officer of babycenter, and now the coo of crowdfusion.com. totally psyched with this new opportunity to work with brian alvey again ... currently in the process of consolidating my various and sundry blogs: knowledge notes; the small remnants that are left of: endless breathless patter; tagalicious; the judith meskill weblog; and the social software weblog. phew ... when i am all done with migrating all of these bits and bytes they will then live happily ever after at: meskill.net ... /smile

ch ch ch changes …

just last friday i was the general manager of weblogs, inc., an aol company ... and as of this coming monday i'll be the social media officer for babycenter, a j&j company ... hm, guess i should have arranged to have a media massage this weekend but ...

instead, i decided to make my quick change transition with a fun flickr getaway to cape may ... it was a blast. i met up with six other flickr photographers on the beach at cape may. i've 'known' these six flickrites, loosely, for about a year now, and some of them have known each other 'virtually' for more than that but ... this was the first time any of us had ever met up face-to-face and ... it was fantastic!

i started keeping a list of social networking services a couple of years ago and, flickr is my personal fave since photography is one of my passions.

i'm looking forward to working with tina sharkey again, lately of aol and currently the chairman of babycenter ... and, coincidentally, i'll be seeing jason calacanis again next week at a j&j summit. small world(s) ...

A series of unfortunate events & a sprinkle of ‘tragic optimism’

Posted on April 10, 2005 by Judith Meskill
Categories:photo-sharing.

It all started as i watched my iBook slide out of my backpack, across a wide paved entryway, and bounce off of a stone curb. The gentleman who had lifted my bags out of the shuttle, and assisted in addling my laptop's brain, certainly didn't mean to be dangerously poised at the beginning of this series of unfortunate events. And, of course the series wasn't totally unfortunate either, but i do digress.

When i made it up to my room i held my breath as i opened up my iBook, and ahhh! it started up! Happy news. However, shortly thereafter when i went down to the conference room where i was scheduled to speak the next day, i could not join the wireless network. Unfortunately, not that unusual at many conference venues--where WiFi is often unreliable. But, the really bad sign was that my iBook didn't even recognize that it had a wireless card--and that was the beginning of the really bad news.

biofuel vehicles...

On August 6, 2003 I entered a post on bio-nano fuel cells on my weblog. On December 5, 2003 Dr. M. Anbu Kulandainathan posted to my weblog expecting a further 'knowledge share' from me on this topic. While I have been following this topic there has been little 'news' on it in the last four months. There is the research being performed at Rutgers University in their Bio-Nano Robotics Research facility.
Renewable Energy News | Biofuel Vehicles Bring Faithful to UN Service
November 26, 2003 [SolarAccess.com] In New York City, some of the nearly 300 worshipers from diverse faith traditions, who gathered outside the United Nations in a service of repentance and renewal to stop global warming, arrived in fuel-efficient hybrid cars or vans powered by biodiesel made from vegetable oil. On a chartered bus from Littleton, Massachusetts, riders paid an extra five dollars to purchase renewable energy offsetting the carbon dioxide pollution from their trip. Other participants literally "walked the talk" of reducing carbon emissions, as four Buddhist monks led a contingent of walkers all the way from Western Massachusetts. Among the assembly were two Episcopal bishops, ten Episcopal priests, and the Anglican Observer at the United Nations. The service, which was held earlier this month, marked the fifth anniversary of the United States signing the Kyoto Protocol to address global warming. Congress never signed the treaty, which President Bush has rejected as too costly.
