a sweet signal of spring this yellow bard,

will soon with sunny blossoms be quite starred.

as we all pull in on our collective belts these days, it's important to support our creative cohorts. and, by supporting them, we get the added bonus of bringing fine products home. i met @drflower on twitter - in a search for green peeps - and i'm ever so happy that i did. she's a very thoughtful twitter cohort, and, she's also a fine soapmaker! today i had two love suprises: first i went out to my mailbox and found my two bars of 'plain jane' - unscented - soap in my mailbox, and when walking back to the house i spied my first crocus in bloom! (i'll post a pic of the crocus next!) cheers ... xo
now who is this little dollop of red,
head cocked to the side, eye looking ahead,
asking me now, am i gonna get fed,
you bet your sweet beak, my vision in red ... xo

to all my flickr friends who long for spring,
i hope this handsome cardinal does bring,
a brightsome sight, he's such a handsome thing,
of Super Eco's launch does he now sing! xo

i hope everyone is keeping warm in this icy cold northern usa winter and looking forward to the lengthening of each day as we march ever closer to spring 2009!
today marks the launch of a site that reflects a passion of mine--for a greener, more eco-friendly world for all of us! within the next week we'll be launching a group here on flickr for Super Eco and i'd love it if you would all join me there! xo
ps: my sister, lucy also posted a cardinal today in honor of the launch of Super Eco. xo
(judith and vero were left out below,
because they were hidden 'neath lots of snow!)
'Twas the night before Solstice, above the equator,
Not an author was stirring, not even a curator;
The pages were hung on the interwebs with care,
In hopes that our audience soon would be there;
The developers were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of 'tag refactors' danced in their heads;
And Brian with his wireframes, and Craig with a map,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When out on Super Eco there arose such a clatter,
Ryan sprang from his bed to see what was the matter.
Away to his laptop he flew like a flash,
Tore open his browser and dumped all his cache.
Now Steve was admiring the new-fallen snow,
And C.K. saw lustre on objects below,
When, what to their wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature smart car, with Russel's 'green' gear,
With a cute little driver, so lively and hail,
They knew in a moment it must be Rachael.
More rapid than eagles Barb's coursers they came,
And she whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
"Now, Alice! now, Alex! now, Sarah and Karen!
On, Laura! on Lucy! on, Michelle and Madeline!
To the top of the search queue! and all things eco!
Now dash away! dash away! get up and go!"
As dry pages before the wild hurricane fly,
When Dan met with an obstacle, he'd send out a cry,
Brett, Chris, and Danielle watched as Google ranks grew,
While Frank, Kelly, and Kim made some fine pages too.
Sam heard, in a twinkling, right out of the blue
The prancing and pawing of the Obsessable crew.
Stephen drew in his hand, and was turning around,
Down the chimney our Nicholas came with a bound.
Matt saw his fur, from his head to his foot,
James saw him tarnished with ashes and soot;
Keoni saw widgets all flung on his back,
Elliot saw a peddler opening his pack.
Bob liked his eyes -- how they twinkled! how merry!
Randall saw roses, and nose like a cherry!
Greg thought his mouth was drawn up like a bow,
Scott saw the beard of his chin, white as the snow;
Bob winced at the pipe he held tight in his teeth,
Galen coughed at the smoke round his head like a wreath;
Tyler saw a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook, when he laughed like a bowlful of jelly.
Mike said he was plump, a right jolly old elf,
Ryan laughed when he saw him, in spite of himself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Gave William to know he had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
He gave Andy a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
Kyle heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Solstice to all, and to all a good-night."
"... From whence arrived the praying mantis?
From outer space, or lost Atlantis?
glimpse the grin, green metal mug
at masks the pseudo-saintly bug,
Orthopterous, also carnivorous,
And faintly whisper, Lord deliver us ..."
